I have my sign... so now what?

When it comes to displaying your custom metal sign, choosing the right mounting option can make all the difference. Whether you want a bold statement piece, a sleek and modern look, or a practical double-sided sign for maximum visibility, there’s a solution to suit your needs. From Mounting securely to a surface, Framed designs to blend with your existing style, Hanging options with chains or wire, Floating for a modern offset effect, to Double-Sided signs perfect for driveways—each method offers a unique way to showcase your sign.
Let’s explore the best option for your space!

Mounting

Weathering steel contrasts beautifully against a variety of different materials including Mini Orb, Reclaimed Timber, Corrugated Iron & Stone.

Use metal screws to secure your sign to the backing piece. If securing to a light-coloured backing piece we do recommend nylon spacers just to prevent staining during the initial weathering process.

Framed

The bigger the sign, the more support it requires. A frame is a great way of displaying your sign - the practicality of being able to support the steel, while also having the ability to create a stunning backing piece for contrast.

You can choose from a variety of different materials to create a beautiful contrast with your sign. Some of the most popular options are:
* Raw Steel Hanging Frame (with 2 or 3 sides)
* Timber Frame (for a beautiful country style finish)
* Powder-coated steel frame (your options are endless here with colours & contrasts)

Hanging

Hanging your custom metal sign is simple, even if you're not a DIY expert or are in a rental where drilling isn't an option.
Depending on your gate type, you can use metal wire ties, plastic zip ties, or fencing clips to secure your sign in place. These options are quick, adjustable, and won’t cause permanent damage. For a more rustic look, consider using weather-resistant rope or chain.

Welded

For a permanent placement, and if you have the means, our signs can be welded to a gate or fence. You can even create a stunning property feature with additional elements.
Mounts can also be made to secure your sign to a backing such as corrugated iron or stone.

Extra-Special Displays

Double Sided

If you want your sign to be visible from both directions, we can create a duplicate and place a contrasting panel between them. This not only enhances visibility but also adds a striking layered effect, making your sign stand out from any angle. Choosing a simple background colour or a material like stainless steel against a weathering steel panel can create a dramatic contrast. This method is ideal for gates, driveways, or business signage where visibility from multiple directions is important.

Floating / Hidden Mounts

For a sleek, modern look, consider a floating sign where only the lettering or design is cut out and mounted using pins. This technique creates a subtle shadow effect and gives the sign a ‘floating' appearance. It’s a great option if you love the texture or colour of the surface behind it, such as timber, brick, or stone, and want to maintain a clean, professional aesthetic.
